Welcome to Hale Colonics
Set up by Caroline McAlindon, Hale Colonics provides a safe, holistic Colonic Hydrotherapy experience where you will be treated with dignity and respect in a discrete, supportive and relaxed environment.
Having previously worked in finance for various large multi national companies over a 25 year period, she decided to re-train in something completely different with a view to helping others. Having had colonic hydrotherapy treatments herself for several years to treat her IBS, and having derived immense benefit from the treatments, the decision was easy! She trained and qualified as a Colonic Hydrotherapist in May 2024 at the National College of Colon Hydrotherapy (NCCH). She is also a member of the Association of Registered Colonic Hydrotherapists (ARCH).
She is passionate about helping people with digestive health issues and has witnessed first- hand how Colonic Hydrotherapy, also known as Colonic Irrigation and Colon Cleanse, can help relieve these debilitating symptoms.
What is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colonic Hydrotherapy, also known as Colonic Irrigation or Colon Cleanse, is a completely natural treatment that frees the colon of old, impacted matter that can hinder peristalsis (a series of wave-like muscle contractions that moves food to different processing stations in the digestive tract) and stimulates the liver helping with detoxification.
Every day, many thousands of people have the treatment, from celebrities and film stars to people of all ages, from all walks of life. The Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment is for people looking for relief from the symptoms of IBS and other gastro-intestinal problems such as bloating, constipation or diarrhoea. It is also for those that simply want to maintain and improve their digestive health and enjoy the enhanced energy levels that often results from the treatment.
What does the treatment involve?
Caroline uses the Closed Gravity System that provides a natural and gentle method of treatment. Using only sterile, disposable single use tubing and equipment for each client, warm filtered water is gently introduced into the colon at a low safe pressure. Gentle manipulation and massage is used during the procedure to relieve bloating, excess gas and constipation and there is no need to be concerned about odour as the waste is dispersed directly from the tubing to a dedicated soil pipe.
This video is from The Association of Registered Colon Hydrotherapists and is an example of a 'closed' colonic irrigation treatment on a 'gravity' system.
How could the treatment benefit me?
Colonic Hydrotherapy is not just a method of clearing the bowel of waste, gases and toxins. It is a process that encompasses other therapeutic benefits and many people have found that the treatment:
- reduces stress levels and improves mood and energy levels.
- improves the condition of the skin.
- improves IBS and reduces bloating, flatulence and constipation.
- re-establishes a normal shape to the colon and helps to improve peristalsis.
- can detect intestinal parasites and candida.
It may also help to:
- Repair the gut wall
- Rebuild the gut-brain connection
- Rebalance gut bacteria
- Rehydrate the colon

No, there may be a slight feeling of discomfort as if suffering from diarrhoea.
This depends on the individual and the purpose of the visit. You may not have any obvious issues and just want to ‘try it out’ for the experience, in which case a one-off treatment is fine. However, if you are suffering from IBS or constipation or want a detox programme, then you may need a course of three treatments or more. However, you can rest assured that we will never advise treatment if it is not required.
Single treatments for new customers are £90.00 (this will include a full health assessment and blood pressure check). Single treatments for existing customers are £80 each or £210 for a course of three sessions - if taken within a 6 month period.
Your safety is paramount. All speculums and tubing are single use and disposable for each client. The speculum (the tube introduced into the rectum) is small and the pressure used by the natural gravity system is a natural low pressure.
No, in fact the muscle tone is improved and bowel function will get better.
There are no special preparations required but if possible it is advisable to increase your water consumption to 1.5 to 2 litres a day and reduce your tea and coffee intake as much as possible. If constipated, take 2 tablespoons of linseed two days beforehand.
As abdominal massage is used during the treatment for your own comfort, it is best to avoid having a heavy meal or alcohol beforehand.
Most people feel fine to return to work or normal daily activities, but it is best to avoid strenuous exercise for 12 hours. Otherwise keep warm and hydrated and avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
Most people report feeling lighter and energised following Colonic Hydrotherapy, although there have been occasional reports of feeling a little cold or tired. Individual, tailored advice will be given post treatment and we will offer any ongoing support as necessary via telephone or email should this be required.
